Noopept

omberacetam (N-phenylacetyl-L-prolylglycine ethyl ester)

Noopept (omberacetam) is a synthetic nootropic with limited, mainly clinical-population evidence. The main oral trial used 20 mg a day for eight weeks in impaired patients; everyday focus or memory enhancement in healthy adults remains unestablished. Compare oral form, verified milligrams per unit, total active content, testing and market-specific rules.

Who should avoid this or get expert review first

This is not a recommendation to use. These groups should treat the profile as a reason to slow down and verify safety, rules, and personal context.

  • Who should avoid Noopept?8The medicinal leaflet excludes pregnancy, breastfeeding, people under 18, severe liver or kidney impairment, and allergy to omberacetam or product ingredients. Its tablet formulation contains lactose; excipients differ across products.
01

What is it?

Identity and oral forms

1

Noopept is omberacetam, a synthetic dipeptide-derived compound. Tablets, capsules and powders describe delivery forms, not different proven cognitive effects. Match the chemical identity before comparing an offer.

Evidence versus marketing3
The main comparison enrolled 53 impaired patients, without a placebo arm. Cognitive-scale differences versus piracetam were not significant in the vascular subgroup. That design cannot establish healthy-adult enhancement.

Clinical population matters

4

An open study in 60 stroke patients reported cognitive changes at two months versus a control group. Its abstract lacks detailed long-term safety data. Findings in impaired patients cannot be assumed to apply to healthy users.

Healthy-volunteer research answers a different question

10

A controlled climate-chamber study in volunteers aged 20-24 reported adaptation to cold or heat. Its abstract omits dose, route and adverse-event detail. Environmental adaptation is not proof of everyday memory or focus enhancement from oral Noopept.

Mechanisms of action

Cell-culture findings are not human outcomes

6

In an amyloid-challenged PC12 cell model, Noopept influenced cell survival, oxidative stress and tau phosphorylation. Such results explore mechanisms; they do not demonstrate disease prevention or cognitive enhancement in people.

04

Potential effects and evidence map

Small, population-specific human studies support grade C overall. Clinical observations and a climate-stress experiment do not establish routine healthy-adult enhancement; cellular results remain preclinical.

Effect domainMagnitudeGrade

CumulativeConfidence: Low

Possible cognitive signal in impaired clinical populations; healthy-adult memory enhancement is unestablished.

Everyday attention enhancement in healthy adults is unestablished.

Note Environmental adaptation is a different outcome.

UnknownConfidence: Low

Cellular findings provide mechanistic plausibility, without confirming a human brain-protection benefit.

Note PC12 cells exposed to amyloid are not a clinical outcome.

UnknownConfidence: Low

Routine mood or wellbeing benefit is unestablished.

Note Climate-stress observations do not validate an everyday mood claim.

Typical dosages and timing

Impaired-adult comparator trial320 mg/day

Participants received divided oral doses in a selected impaired-adult population. The Russian medicinal leaflet separately describes an increase to 30 mg daily under clinician direction (Reference 8). Neither establishes a healthy-adult enhancement target or validates a different route.

07

Safety, side effects and risk profile

How to read the base risk rating8
The base rating concerns authentic oral omberacetam at reported medicinal amounts over a short studied course in generally healthy adults. Common clinically meaningful harm in that setting is not demonstrated. Sparse safety data limit confidence; blood-pressure vulnerability, contraindications, product quality and regulatory status require separate assessment.
Cardiovascular caution3
Confidence: Medium

Blood-pressure increases prompted two withdrawals in the vascular-disease group.

Note Clinically important targeted caution; not a healthy-adult incidence estimate.

2/5
C
Pregnancy / lactation caution8
Confidence: High

The medicinal leaflet contraindicates pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Note This population is outside the base rating.

3/5
B
Overstimulation / insomnia3
Confidence: Low

Sleep disturbance and irritability occurred in the clinical trial.

Note Mostly transient; healthy-adult frequencies are unknown.

1/5
C
Interaction risk8
Confidence: Low

Available interaction information does not establish safe multi-compound stacks.

Note The leaflet reports no established interactions for several named classes.

1/5
E
Evidence uncertainty4
Confidence: High

Long-term healthy-adult safety and effectiveness remain uncertain.

Note Uncertainty is separate from the healthy-adult base risk rating.

2/5
C
Legal / regulatory risk2
Confidence: High

U.S.: FDA challenged one vendor's Noopept marketing as unapproved new drugs in 2019.

Note Reviewed 14 October 2026; product/claim-specific enforcement, not a worldwide possession rule.

3/5
B
Reported adverse effects3

The trial noted blood-pressure increases, sleep disturbance and irritability; two vascular-group participants withdrew because of blood-pressure increases. The leaflet also lists allergic reactions of unknown frequency.

08

Interactions and cautions

Combination evidence is incomplete8

The leaflet reports no established interactions with alcohol, hypnotics, antihypertensives or psychostimulants. This does not demonstrate that every combination is safe. The clinical comparator study used monotherapy; routine choline pairing and multi-nootropic stacks remain unvalidated.

10

How it compares

Compare total active content, not unit count9

Example: 50 units labelled 10 mg contain 0.5 g; 60 units labelled 30 mg contain 1.8 g. Compare package price divided by labelled active grams, using the same currency and including shipping. Price per capsule alone misses this threefold strength difference. These examples are arithmetic, not verified assays of current offers.

11

Practical buying and quality notes

  • Confirm active omberacetam per unit and per serving. Separate active mass from capsule fillers and total blend weight; powder package grams are not a single serving. Catalogue unit labels may group tablets with capsules, so verify the merchant label and pack count.9
  • A laboratory study of ten selected products bought in 2019 found inaccurate labelled drug amounts and some undeclared drugs. It does not audit today's offers. Check a batch-matched identity and content assay, full ingredient disclosure and contaminant testing; a headline purity percentage alone does not verify finished-unit dose.9

FAQ

Is Noopept many times stronger than piracetam?

3

Different milligram amounts in one comparator study do not establish a universal potency ratio. Cognitive-scale differences were not significant in the vascular subgroup.

What oral dose has actually been studied?

3

The main comparator trial used 10 mg twice daily in impaired patients. See the dosage section for medicinal-label context; no reliable healthy-adult enhancement target follows from that trial.

How long does Noopept last, and should it be cycled?

4

The sources do not establish a reliable healthy-user single-dose duration or an evidence-based cycle. A trial course or a foreign medicinal-label schedule is not a validated biohacking cycle.
