What is a certificate of analysis?
Last updated June 14, 2026
A certificate of analysis, often called a COA, is a lab document that may show test results for identity, purity, potency or contaminants.
A useful COA should match the exact product or batch being sold, not just a generic ingredient. COAs are one part of vendor evaluation, but they are not a complete guarantee. Consider who performed the test, when it was done and whether batch details are visible.
